One subscription is not several independent pools
A Pro or Max subscription covers Claude on web, desktop and mobile as well as Claude Code, with shared applicable usage limits. Moving from the website to a terminal does not imply a fresh independent allowance.
Check authentication
Anthropic states that when ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is set, Claude Code uses API-key authentication and incurs API charges instead of included subscription usage. Confirm the intended account and authentication path when investigating unexpected usage.
Avoid unexpected charges
Check whether extra usage is enabled or Console pay-as-you-go has been selected. To remain within the included subscription, follow official guidance to decline API credits and wait for recovery when the allowance is exhausted.
